Booking, arrival, and departure

What do I do with my vehicle?

Visitor vehicles are not allowed on Monhegan Island. Guests leave their vehicles at the ferry dock, where each ferry service has a designated parking system. Be sure to reserve your parking spot and pay when booking your ferry tickets. Visit our Getting Here page for more info.

What time is check-in and can I check in early?

Check-in is at 3 PM, but we'll do our best to get your room ready earlier. If not, you can leave your bags with us and enjoy the island until your room is ready. Upon check-out we'll safely store your luggage or deliver it to your ferry when it's time to depart.

Can I make a group reservation?

Yes, group bookings are welcome! Please contact us directly to coordinate.

What should I expect when arriving on the island?

When you arrive to the Monhegan dock, locate the Monhegan House truck. We'll transport your luggage to the hotel for you!
Amenities

Is breakfast included in my stay?

Yes! Enjoy our 3 course 5 star homemade breakfast every morning of your stay!

Is dinner included in my stay?

Dinner is not included, but we'd love for you to join us! Our chef prepares delicious meals in a mostly scratch kitchen from Tuesday–Sunday. Guests receive priority reservations and a discounted prix fixe menu.

Is there daily housekeeping?

We don't provide daily housekeeping, but we're happy to refresh your room or provide fresh towels, glassware, or hairdryers upon request, just speak to us at the front desk at check-in!

Do you offer luggage assistance?

Yes, we'll help transport your luggage to and from the ferry upon arrival and departure.

Is there air conditioning in the room?

Our rooms are naturally cooled by ocean breezes. Fans and extra blankets are available upon request.

Are there any refrigerators or coffee makers?

Coffee and tea are provided in the lounge, and guests have access to shared refrigerators in the hallway.

Is Wi-Fi available?

Yes! Wi-fi is provided for all Monhegan House guests.
Dining

Where can I eat dinner on the island?

We serve dinner Tuesday through Sunday, and we think you'll love what our mostly scratch kitchen has to offer. Other dinner options on the island include the Fish House and The Novelty, which offers pizza, rotisserie chicken, salads, and more. Check out our Discover Monhegan page for more dining options!

Where can I feed a kid on the island?

We've got you covered! Grab a PB&J from the Kissing Booth, share a rotisserie chicken or pizza from The Novelty, or enjoy junior burgers during weekend BBQ nights.

Do I need a reservation for dinner at the inn?

Yes, reservations are recommended, especially during peak season. Guests of the inn receive priority seating. Reserve your spot at the front desk!
Activities

What is there to do on Monhegan Island?

Monhegan is known for its stunning hiking trails, art galleries, birdwatching, and quiet natural beauty. It's the perfect place to unplug and explore. Check out our Things To Do page for more info!

Are bikes or golf carts available for rent?

Monhegan is a walking island—vehicles and bikes are not typically available or needed. Bring good walking shoes and enjoy the trails!

I heard there's art hour at the hotel. What is this?

Art Hour takes place daily at 4 PM on the lawn (or in the Art Barn if it rains). It's a free, drop-in session led by our resident artist or staff, with materials provided. All ages are welcome!

What other art events can I look forward to at the hotel?

In addition to daily Art Hour, we feature rotating local art in the dining room and host a Friday Art Porch Sale from 12–5 PM with live painting, artist meet-and-greets, and artwork available for purchase.
